Sun Shield - EXERCISE

Hello!
While I keep studying for game art, I also got in touch with the 3D design process for making in-game assets!
As an exercise, I was tasked with modeling a round shield with three distinct materials in mind: the boards, the emblem and the rim. Following along with tutorials to familiarize myself with the 3D workflow, I successfully modeled the shield in Blender, applied textures in Substance Painter and set dressed the beauty shots in Marmoset Toolbag!
The whole process was an exciting learning experience for me, and opened new doors for me to explore! I hope it will blossom into more projects to develop my newfound knowledge of modeling, texturing and using these fantastic softwares, as well as make more assets in the future!
Either way, I'll make sure to keep you posted! Thank you very much for watching!

The model itself was done in blender, using video reference for the process. For the purposes of the exercise, it was designed with 3 materials in mind.

Iron material, for the rims and nails. It was the first time I used Substance Painter, as well as the first time I had to interface with texture maps

Probably the weakest of the three, it made me realize how much there is to making good looking wood material, and made me appreciate the process more.
